HinkyPunk at Paintworks is kindly supported by Bristol's Sofa Project February sees the launch of HinkyPunk*, a collaboration between Bristol’s Migoi-Music and Style88. This flagship event is to be held at Paintworks: Bristol’s creative quarter. Expect to see an array of artwork from Bristol, and across the UK, including photography, painting, illustration and installation. Discover music from some of the featured DJs: Bitfunk, Pete Daisy, Jessica Flexa and Obiwon, in a unique and relaxed event. “What drives Migoi is the vast amount of interesting music that never gets heard, or doesn't get heard enough. The aim is to provide well-produced music from a variety of underground sources covering all genres. We intend to increase the profile of underground artists by introducing their work to a larger audience and to offer our members a wide range of great music that can't always be found commercially.” “Style88 was born out of the initiative to build a neutral platform, integrating artists from a full range of disciplines. We provide a commission free sales platform enabling full reward to be taken from the sale of any work online. Style88 is a growing community, with increasing opportunities to collaborate and exhibit works through the support chains we provide.” HinkyPunk* is an important step forward for the Style88 project, which has received glowing support throughout its time online. It is important that we provide our artists with opportunities to exhibit their work as ‘real’ people, embracing the community that we are building. And for Migoi-Music it is a chance to show off some of the musical talent that will soon be accessible through the website in 2008. *HinkyPunk comes served with tea and cake.
